Holiday Macarons by C. Crowell Fine Confections

peppermint macaronI think there’s nothing more indulgent and lovely than a little macaron. In the past I’ve had a difficult time finding a truly great macaron in Boston, but those days are over thanks to Claudia Crowell of C. Crowell Fine Confections! I was so excited to discover Claudia’s pastries at Cocoanuts earlier this week in the North End.

I was thankful to grab the very last tin in the store. The holiday tin is filled with peppermint, egg nog, and gingerbread macarons. All three were beyond incredibly but my absolute favorite was the gingerbread! Word on the street is that another shipment of macarons came to Cocoanuts today so if you’re in need of a last minute present or hostess gift, this is a nice option.

To me, there’s something so special about these bite-sized pastries…and I think Claudia gets to the heart of it with this quote. “Labeled as fussy and temperamental, the Macaron has acquired a reputation for snobbery, but when I’m alone in my kitchen…sifting…folding…and listening to every ingredient, nothing is more simple and lovely than that.”

You can tell her work is a labor of love and I can’t wait to try some of the other flavors on her menu once the holiday season has passed. If you’re looking to pick up some of Claudia’s macarons you can head to one of these locations:
