Move over silver and gold. This spring it’s all about copper! Copper offers the same type of metallic accent but with a warm glow. I’ve seen these Tom Dixon Copper Shade beauties popping up everywhere. At $685 a shade they are definitely an investment, but they instantly transform a room. It would be hard to get just one after seeing them in such great groupings.

Here’s some examples of the shade pendant installed. I love the look of the three hanging over the dining table and the addition of the red cords. The way the orb reflects the room around it is so playful. It’s kind of like a mini version of Anish Kapoor’s Chicago Bean but in your living space.

Another very bold way to incorporate copper into your home is through an antique style copper tub. The freestanding tub is styled after Parisian tubs from the late nineteenth century and makes for an incredibly elegant bathroom.

Exposed pipes are a third and more utilitarian way to use copper. Having structural elements revealed makes for a rustic room. Copper pipe can also be used in creative ways to build new pieces like this copper hanging clothing rack. I’ve also seen it used in lighting fixtures and furniture bases.
Would you consider any of these bold copper additions in your home? For those of you who are interested in adding copper accents in a less dramatic (and expensive) way, I’ll be doing a follow up post on smaller accessories.
I love the copper tub, it looks amazing! Why not? the main thing is that these bold accessories need to coordinate with overall style of the space.
Agreed! The tub is definitely a statement but looks so lovely if you’ve got the right kind of space and vibe.
I love those copper shade pendants!
I can’t get enough of them! I’ve been seeing them all over and I really enjoy seeing how people are choosing to install them.
Can’t get enough of those Tom Dixon orbs!
Me either! Would love one to call my own.
love copper. shame it’s the most impractical material ever. absolute nightmare to clean and keep looking fabulous.
I know! Quite the conundrum. Although I think one great statement piece is much more manageable than say a kitchen full of copper pots.
Pretty, pretty! That tub is so gorgeous! (Dreaming of having my own big house) So nice meeting you last night Becky!
So nice to meet you too Rachel! I’m also dreaming of the upgrade from apartment to house 🙂
