Union Square Donuts

National Doughnut Day
Happy National Doughnut Day! You’ve been good all week just so you can celebrate, right? You know I’m a fan of shopping locally, so my donut supplier of choice is Union Square Donuts.

Union Square Donuts
Union Square carries wildly inventive flavors like Maple Bacon, Cherry Hibiscus, Chocolate Chipotle, and Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch. In my experience, their donuts come out hot (is there anything more comforting than a warm donut?) and perfectly fluffy. I’ve got my eye on the Bourbon Caramel with Sea Salt for the next time I go.

Pastry Chef and Owner Heather
Union Square opened on Valentine’s Day of this year at 201 Somerville Ave and then quickly made the move over to 16 Bow Street in May. Owner, Heather Schmidt,  says she and her partner, Josh Danoff, have been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of support they’ve seen.

in the kitchen
Heather says that to be honest, they’re just trying to keep up with the demand (which is not the worst problem to have!) This summer you’ll probably see Union Square at one of the local farmers markets – they’re now at SOWA, Dewey Square, and the Greenway Open Market.

Spindrift and Counter Culture
In addition to incredible donuts, Union Square also carries Spindrift Soda and Counter Culture Coffee.

the Sold Out sign
The infamous “Sold Out” sign! Union Square is open from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, but oftentimes they’re completely sold out by early afternoon. My advice….get there early and stock up.

  1. I am definitely going to try this place. Looks fantastic and who doesn’t love a hot donut? I agree, shop locally whenever possible.

  2. I still need to check their new location out – especially considering I live about 5 minutes away from it. 😉
