In my opinion, Follain is one of the most beautiful shops in Boston. Their spaces in Beacon Hill and the South End are airy and filled with natural light. Their store layout is clean and purposeful and all of their products are top notch. You can’t help but feel relaxed when you step in the door. Even the aroma is intoxicating! Follain offers bath and body products that are safe, effective and made in the USA. They represent over 30 brands of the healthiest and highest performance products, from cleansers, to makeup, to hair care.
But Follain isn’t just doing beautiful work; they’re doing important work. As it comes to light that many of our daily beauty products contain harmful toxins, it’s more important than ever to pay attention to ingredients. The products we use daily are absorbed through our skin and small amounts of toxins applied daily, over decades, can be disastrous.
Recently the news has been reporting on the Johnson & Johnson ovarian cancer case related to their baby powder (which contains talc). They company, which failed to make its customers aware of the dangers of talc, have been ordered to pay out $72 million in damages.
And while there isn’t conclusive research about a link between deodorant and breast cancer, many brands contain aluminum and parabens, and there’s definitely cause for concern. P.S. If you’re considering replacing even one of your beauty products – Follain recommends replacing your deodorant first.

I can’t say enough good things about each of these products! I chose the Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream primarily for the SPF, but it’s as silky as any other high end lotion. My skin is definitely enjoying the upgrade, all around. Next up is a new cleanser!
Follain also has a Washington DC store and I’m looking forward to visiting their seasonal Nantucket shop this summer. If you’re considering making changes to your beauty routine, I highly recommend a visit to Follain!
